從大溪孩子們的玩具發想,從前木匠在工作繁忙時,會用餘料隨手製作一顆小陀螺，讓孩子在街屋的亭仔腳(騎樓)下玩耍，陀螺便成為一件帶有記憶、手藝、與心意的小禮物。
為了找回科技時代難能可貴的手感體驗,《BUBU 跳恰恰》在眾人的腦力激盪下應運而生,以木頭餘料搭配各式材料為基礎，邀請參與的大人小孩親自動手,發揮創意製作一台木頭玩具車，也讓大溪孩子們的木器必修課，變成每個人都可以體驗的快樂選修課。「疊疊國產車」從基底的小木輪和國產材素胚開始，透過簡單的切鋸、砂磨、組裝、塗裝等木工作業流程，讓體驗者可運用木角料、自然素材與各種美術材料發揮創意自由創作。而乘載木車車的大型裝置,則是一座高度 1 米 5、長度超過 7 米 的組合式木軌道，由場外 off-site 設計、和峰木創領軍，攜手堂和神桌、隆達傢俱行、大易藝術等四位在地藝師共同打造，讓這項具實驗性的計畫，成為以木育推廣為核心，扣合企劃創意、設計發展以及精準計算的工藝製程，成為一大群人齊心投入，共同創造的奇幻旅程。
2024 年首登場就大受歡迎的《BUBU 跳恰恰》，如今從大溪出 發,移師各地活動巡迴交流，這起結合生活工藝與木育的遊戲體驗，不僅打開大人小孩參與文化、體驗工藝的全新視野，也創造了屬於大溪風格的木育移動城堡。
BUBU Race Cars was inspired by children’s toys in Daxi. In the old days, when the woodworkers were working, they sometimes used scrap wood to make toys for children to play under the overhangs of the storefronts. Therefore, toys symbolize the little presents
filled with memory, craftsmanship, and kindness.
To relive the precious experience of working with hands in the time of technology, BUBU Race Cars is the result of our brainstorming. With scrap wood and various materials, we invite adults and children to use their creativity and hands to make wooden toy cars, turning the compulsory woodwork training for children in Daxi into an optional class everyone enjoys. “MIT Cars” are made of small wooden wheels and frames of untreated Taiwanese timber. By carving, sanding, assembling, and painting, the participants use wood, various natural and art materials, and their creativity to make cars.
The large installation that carries the cars is a wooden track with a height of 1.5 meters and a length of more than 7 meters. Led by HoWOOD.Co. Ltd, it was designed off-site by the artisans from Tang Huo, Long Da Furnitures and Da Yi International Art. With wood education as its core, this experimental project combines creativity, planning, design, development, precise calculation, and joint effort of a large group of people, and the making of this artwork felt like a magic journey to those who were involved.
Since its launch in 2024, BUBU Race Cars has enjoyed tremendous popularity. Starting in Daxi, it has toured many cities and towns. This game, which combines everyday handicraft and wood education, not only shows both adults and children a new vision of experiencing culture and craft but becomes the moving castle of wood education in a distinctive Daxi style.
